Windhoek
The capital of Namibia and a city with deep German roots, Windhoek is a cool place. It houses about 600,000 people of the ~2 million in this country, and is a stark contrast to the barren landscape that dominates much of this country. There are lots of great restaurants and shopping centers, plus a main attraction of
Christuskirche, built in 1914 by the Germans while they were still in control of this land. I suspect it's one of a small number of churches from that era given the World Wars which weren't good to their historical landmarks.
