Total Solar Eclipse
August 21, 2017 was a day I waited for since age 10 when my dad first told me about the total solar eclipse. Despite some initially concerning cloud-cover, we were able to see all 2 minutes and 37 seconds of totality. In addition to the disappearance of the huge fireball in the sky, the transformation of the world around me was amazing. The birds stopped chirping, the insects woke up, and the entire 360 degrees of the horizon became sunset. These pictures capture all 3 layers of the sun- photosphere (what we usually see), chromosphere (the red outer layer containing sunspots), and corona (white rays around the sun)
